• Cambridge professor claiming racial profiling

This story has been in the news a lot recently as this incident just happened last week sometime. It’s a rather dicey situation that involves a black man whose very well educated getting into his home by way of pushing on a stuck front door. The Cambridge cops are called to arrest a possible burglar (a neighbor phoned the cops) and the cops come to check it out, eventually arresting the man even though he finally showed them id and proof that he owned the house.

Personally, the race issue is a touchy one as I feel that the only way it will ever get better in some people’s eyes is for white people to be slaves to black people for 200 years. Then, just MAYBE things would be level and even again. Because apparently, affirmative action and other steps taken by the government and corporations to provide minorities with a better chance of achievement is not enough. And the Cambridge professor who was booked has an ego and needs to understand that people make mistakes.

In relation to this particular situation though, our wonderful and insightful President obviously takes the side of the black professor and decides to call what the police did as “stupid”. And I totally support the sergeant for not apologizing for his actions considering that no one really knows exactly how things escalated.

A white police sergeant who arrested renowned black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. said Thursday he’s disappointed President Barack Obama said officers acted “stupidly,” despite acknowledging he didn’t know all the facts.
