Can’t drive 55? Get ready to pay.
We’ve already seen that Obama really loves appointing special interests to his administration. He’s allowed Chicago style politics to invade Washington at an unprecedented rate. In the latest example of that, he has appointed Chuck Hurley (CEO of Mothers Against Drunk Driving) to run the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Now wait. Isn’t appointing the head of MADD to head highway safety a good thing? Not necessarily. It seems Mr. Hurley is a bit off the deep end on his views of safety. He doesn’t seem to see the line between safety and invasion of personal liberties. His proposed rules that would not only infringe on your rights, but harass motorists.
“The nation’s traffic-safety czar has broad powers to control the roads and road-going habits of Americans. Mr. Hurley has a history of pushing laws that harass millions of law-abiding citizens to ensnare a few lawbreakers. He supports returning the 55 mph speed limit to our highways as well as roadblocks and random pullovers to make sure drivers aren’t doing anything wrong. This methodology is based on a presumption of guilt – not innocence – of the average driver who is doing nothing wrong.”
So call your senators and tell them to give this guy the boot!
