GIVE Act flying under the radar
Here is something that should be brought to your attention. Did you know that there is a bill being pass through congress that could require “mandatory volunteerism” from young people? It’s called the GIVE Act and has largely been flying under the radar. It’s been so under the radar and out of the media that I’ve had trouble getting good information about it. Most concerning is that a number of Republicans are supporting it with only the Libertarian leaning conservatives standing against it. Now I said “could require” because supposedly, the wording that would require mandatory volunteerism has been removed. However, the bill lays the groundwork to head in that direction in the future.
This bill should come as no surprise to any of you who paid attention to Obama’s rhetoric during the election.
Let me be clear on this…
Mandatory Volunteerism = Slavery
Period! There is no argument to that. I don’t care what your “good intentions” are or what kind of choices you give people in the forced labor. When you force someone to work for no pay, that is called slavery. It is oppression and tyranny. Plain and simple.
Wake up America! This is the direction our country is heading!
A little discussion about the GIVE Act:
I’m not one for sending everything to all your friends. I think that’s annoying. However, at least talk this up. Please make people ware of the direction their country is heading.

If you require someone to volunteer, it ceases to be volunteering.
Or am I an idiot?
Even at West Point, the cadets often say they are “volun-told” to do things on their campus.
They know the difference.
Voluntold: when you are expected to volunteer your time and presence. The request is given by someone with some kind of authority to someone with less authority.
