Obama ends abortion funding ban
On Friday, Omaba struck down a rule that prohibits US funding of international family planning clinics that promote abortion as an option. I know it’s hard to get past the abortion aspect of this, but let’s take a look at the big picture here. Why are we funding foreign clinics in the first place? In our economic state, why are we funding foreign anything? Doesn’t it make more sense to keep our money in the US economy?
Obama said in a statement that family planning aid has been used as a “political wedge issue,” adding that he had “no desire to continue this stale and fruitless debate.”
It speaks volumes that our President belittles the debate over human life by calling it “stale and fruitless”. These are terms one would use to describe the argument of Coke or Pepsi being better, not something that determines the fate of unborn children.
“It is time we end the politicization of this issue,” Obama said. “In the coming weeks, my administration will initiate a fresh conversation on family planning, working to find areas of common ground to best meet the needs of women and families at home and around the world.”
Let me get this straight… he is going to start a “fresh conversation on family planning”, without addressing the abortion issue? So this would be the strategy of “ignore it and it will go away”. Um… yeah. This will end well.
