Why do we care?
Well, it seems that Obama-worshiping, liberal-minded celebrities have put together a video that tells what each and every one of them is going to do in their lives to help America in this “new era” that Obama is presiding over. What I found interesting in watching it is that for the first half of the almost 5 min. long video, the message being pushed is good (outside of the very beginning which takes quotes from Obama’s inauguration speech). Different celebrities talking about they will help to end hunger in the U.S., help children with diseases, help encourage arts and music in schools, help clean up the environment in various ways, helping our neighbors, build communities one neighbor at a time, even remembering that we are all Americans before we are African, Asian, etc Americans. This is all good until towards the very end when Demi Moore says that she is pledging to be a servant of the president (I never heard this when Bush was elected) as the camera pans back to show all the celebrities in separated screen boxes (ie. Brady Bunch style) saying they will try to be the change that they seek. Then there is that horrible cultist image of Obama with the blue on one side of his face and the red on the other.
Why I find this video so horrible is the timing. Why would a video like this not be made right after Bush’s election 4 years ago? I have to wonder if this video would have been made if McCain had won instead of Obama (I doubt it). Now that the “Chosen One” has been elected into office, it’s time to come together and work as a “team”. Funny, I certainly don’t remember hearing this rhetoric 4 years ago or even 8 years ago. I wonder why? Oh wait, I know, because Democrats/liberals/celebrities are really sore losers and only want to unite the country under their chosen leader.
This sentiment of service to your community, state, and country should not be saved for political use, but should be said and encouraged at all times. By waiting until now to make this video and encourage the country to come together for greater causes, it is clear what motive these celebrities work on and it’s not the selfless kind. This is why conservatives all over this country need to become more vocal in their beliefs, especially over the next 4 years. There can be no more “silent majority” (refering to the mostly Christian middle class American voter) when it comes to politics anymore. Liberals in this country have to understand that not everyone agrees with them and that it’s not okay to have the upper hand in getting their party’s message out via the media. The liberal media must be made to respect free speech and dissenting opinions because right now, they clearly do not. I’m talking about everyone from news outlets like CNN and MSN to the Oprah show and celebrities who use their status in this country to sway young people and those not educated in politics. If we want any hope in 2012 for a conservative president to get back in the White House and undo most everything wrong that Obama will do these next 4 years, we MUST make the media adhere to their oath of unbiased reporting.
