• Obama mania starting to cool down?

    Gosh I hope so. The government is so much more than just the president and the president is very limited in their powers due to valid and needed checks and balances. However, in the minds of many American people, Obama is the “chosen one”, the “messiah”, the one who will come and “pay their mortgage and put gas in their car” as one such Obama supporter is quoted as saying during the campaign. Obama is viewed as someone who will make all of these sweeping changes and make all wrongs against the down trodden minorities right again through tons of handouts and government spending.

    However, Americans will hopefully be getting a different, more realistic view of Obama soon once he is in office. He’s already been changing his tune on many of the promises he made on the campaign trail and I’m sure that will continue.

    Though much of the world will party through the night Tuesday after Obama is sworn in as America’s 44th president — just as it did when he was elected — there are signs the ardor is cooling as the sheer weight of his challenges sinks in.

    A deepening global recession, new hostilities in the Middle East, complications in closing the Guantanamo Bay prison, Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan — an impatient world has a stake in all of them and is asking how much change Obama can deliver.
