• More of the Same Sci-Fi from Hollywood

In case you needed any more justification to say that Hollywood has officially run out of original ideas, the LA Times has posted a list of 13 upcoming sci-fi remakes. I can almost see revisiting some of the campy 50′s sci-fi flicks and reworking them into something modern. While it’s not original, it does take some creativity to update the story and modernize the look/feel of the film. Not to mention, most of these stories are forgotten in the mainstream and will be new to many viewers. What’s perplexing is the number of 1980′s sci-fi flicks being remade or continued. I grew up watching many of these and they were good “back in the day”. However, rehashes of the Terminator, Ghostbusters, and RoboCop do not interest me in the least. Instead, they just make me ask “Why?”. Isn’t it bad enough that Indiana Jones and Star Wars got ruined with bad sequels/prequils? Does Hollywood really need to ruin more of our childhood memories? At least the 1950′s sci-fi B-movies were bad to begin with. Hollywood has better odds of improving them in a remake.
