Survivorman to Retire
After three seasons of living by himself in the wild, Survivorman Les Stroud has announced that his is going to retire form the TV show that has made him famous.
“It takes a lot out of me as I really do what I do for real, with no camera crew, no nights in hotels like others do, and it takes a toll on my body,” Stroud told Reuters.
“You can only do seven days surviving without food a certain number of times a year. I’m pleased with what I have done, I’ve been copied around the world, but 25 times I’ve not eaten anything for a week while sleeping on rocks. I need to move on.”
We can’t blame you, Les. Thanks for showing us how to keep a cool head in tough situations and how to survive! We look forward to seeing you in new projects in the future and hope you don’t fall out of the limelight. You are the man!

Good luck Les. Even in re-runs, that show will be among my favorites. I learned much about surviving the outdoors from just watching Les. It has even prompted me to get into backpacking. I think of all the episodes, the Cook Islands was my favorite.
