A New Approach to Senior Photos
Innovative photographers are putting a brand new spin on senior photos that really bring out the personality of your teen. Gone are the days of posed studios shots. Now you can give your teen a professional photo shoot with staged “accidental” poses and digitally manipulated results. However, there is only so much Photoshop can do to remove the ever present look of “would you like fries with that?” that screams through.

I don’t know what is wrong with the mothers of these kids, spending that kind of cash on senior photos. That is a lot of money. Are they taking out loans for these pictures? One mom says “it is a soft impact on her pocketbook?” A minimum of $300 for a basic package of senior pictures? Huh? Soft impact? What message are they sending their kids?
I can hear my mom now. . .”well, the old man with the big light behind your hair will have to take your formal senior picture at the cost of $100 for the whole package deal. If you want the froo froo bathing suit spread, then you better save up your money from your after school job. You will have to pay for those yourself. I’m not made of money. It’s your choice.”
I wonder what these people will do for their wedding photos one day. . .spend 10K+?
And what is wrong with a formal photo? Does that make us vintage now?
I have to remember that that is the high school mentality though. That age must focus on the outside since there isn’t a whole lot on the inside. I remember how it was cool to get the limo and get dressed up for prom. I’m not sure how many of the guys actually had to work for the money to do this ritual. I never did this personally, but a whole lot of others did. Now it is spend your parents money on photos. (Do they still do class rings?) Well, it keeps the photographers in business.
I mean, even for the stupid high school reunion, it is expensive and done at hotel ballrooms. Why didn’t we just hire a fashion photographer for that too? Oh, we did. Maybe that is why it cost so much to stand around in a room to talk to people. I personally will never understand the high school mentality. I guess some people look fondly on all of that.
I tried to run away from high school. It boxed me in. Although I at the time, I did appreciate my free education and took advantage of my time there, I still was a free spirit, not to be bound to walls and rules. . . . or class pictures.
Parents must be living their lives through their kids at ANY cost. I will never understand. And that, too, feeds the peer pressure beast.
It’s scary to see the direction this is going. So many mainstream kids eventually doing a “spread” for family and friends. Soon enough it will be, “hey, look at my senior photos in the playboy style.” And all will be, “like, wow, great shot!” Then in vain, they will be handed out like baseball cards. And of course, the guys will be craving some fries with that, while uploading those pictures for the world to see. . . .pass the ketchup.
Where do I sign up to shoot those $2000 packages?
